MLA-CCCC Joint Task Force on Writing and AI

This joint task force has been convened by the leadership of the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) and the Modern Language Association (MLA) to develop resources, guidelines, and professional standards around the use of AI and writing.

The MLA-CCCC Joint Task Force on Writing and AI Working Paper: Overview of the Issues, Statement of Principles, and Recommendations is the first working paper developed by the task force. The task force created Exploring AI Pedagogy: A Community Collection of Teaching Reflections, offering a space for ELA teachers to hold informal discussions and share practical, frank reflections to help each other better reach students and continuously improve pedagogy. This project is open to all for contributions and feedback.

Sound policy development is the focus of this second working paper from the MLA-CCCC Joint Task Force on Writing and AI. In Generative AI and Policy Development: Guidance from the MLA-CCCC Task Force, the task force uses example scenarios to help inform policymakers about the most important considerations for setting policies for GAI in instructional settings in our fields.
