March 2018 Update
The Newcomers’ Orientation Committee will offer several resources and events at CCCC 2018 to welcome first-time attendees and to introduce them to the opportunities for professional development available at the conference and within the organization. This committee will host a coffee hour (Thursday morning), an orientation (Wednesday afternoon), a welcome booth (Wednesday-Friday), and a think tank for developing proposals for CCCC 2019 (Thursday). There will be a second annual “Career Quest” session (Thursday) designed to help newcomers and early career attendees develop a plan to locate opportunities at the conference and within the organization that can play an important part in their career development. Our goal is to help newcomers feel welcome at the conference, to engage with the opportunities that this conference and organization offer them, and to contribute to the field.
